Why the Future Is About Entrepreneurship
…and not about jobs.

I have had some stimulating conversations with politically motivated folks who are all a-rant about jobs and the economy.  As I find myself immersed in this question about jobs, it becomes immediately apparent to me that it’s not about jobs; it’s about entrepreneurship.  That the reason we have such a high unemployment rate (and growing, believe it or not, everywhere you look – not only in the U.S.A, but throughout the world) has little to do with government (indirectly it does, but only indirectly, due to the obscene expansion of taxes and regulations that stifle economic growth because it stifles the growth enzyme in small business – yes, I am certain there is such a biological fact as that!).

It has more to do with the appalling lack of entrepreneurs, true entrepreneurs, the growers who create jobs. Once the idea is spawned, the idea that growth is not only good but the essential ingredient of inspiration, you suddenly come face to face with the real opportunity.  And that opportunity is what underlies the name of this article, this series, this rant: entrepreneurs work ON their company, rather than just IN it. Once you understand the difference between the two, you’ll understand why we have the economic problem we suffer from—the lack of jobs, the lack of meaningfully productive work, for the vast majority of us.

We need, dear souls, more and more and more true entrepreneurs, what I have come to call New Entrepreneurs, to be inspired to create, to be inspired to innovate, to be inspired to build a completely new world.  And what do I mean when I say, a new world?  I mean a world in which inspiration fuels innovation fuels inspiration fuels a continuing spiral of innovation to grow new things, in new ways, for new reasons, to completely transform how you do what you do, every single day in your company.

And to accomplish that calls for a transcendent view of man and life and business and everything else.  So, what innovation have you pursued lately? And how have you contributed to the transformation of your economy?  And how have you broken free from the insufferable tentacles of dependency upon the powers that be, the stifling bureaucracy that seems to enslave you everywhere you look?  Work ON it, dear readers.  And if you’ve got a question or two about exactly HOW to do that, please write me.  I’m here, just waiting to answer.
