SuccessNet Online Privacy Policy Statement
BNI is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy will tell you what information we collect about you and about your use of BNI’s successnet.czcommunity.com site (the “Site”). It will explain the choices available to you about how your personal information is used and how we protect that information. Please read the following explanations carefully.
Collection of Information
BNI collects information from you at several points during your visit to the Site:
Posting Content—You must supply your name and email address in order to submit articles for consideration or to post a response to an article or other piece of content. Before submitting or posting, you will be required to provide certain categories of information, such as your name and e-mail address.
Optional Information—Occasionally, you may be asked to provide information about yourself. For example, you may wish to participate in a survey or a contest. Participation in surveys or contests, or the use of other services that require the input of additional information, is completely voluntary. You will choose whether to disclose the information necessary to use these features of our site.
Passive Collection of Information—In addition to the information that you actively provide the site, BNI collects information about how you interact with our site. BNI collects passive information for purposes such as site testing and to improve your experience at the site. The types of passive information collected by this site include, without limitation, your IP address, the type of browser you are using, where you go on our site, and how long you stay on any part of our site. Passive information does not identify you to BNI by name, and BNI does not link your IP address to your personally identifiable information.
Forward-to-a-Friend Programs—You can choose to let friends know about BNI and SuccessNet Online through the “Email-to-a-Friend” referral services (such as emailing your friend a link to an article). If you choose to use the BNI service, we will ask you for your friend’s name and his or her e-mail address. BNI will send your friend an e-mail inviting him or her to view the article on the site. BNI stores your friend’s contact information for the sole purpose of sending the e-mail.
Protection of Children
The Site is not designed or intended to attract children or teens under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from any person we know is under the age of 18.
Use of Your Personal Information
The personal information collected on this Site will be used to provide the services you have requested or authorized. If you choose to opt-in for an email alert, email blast or e-newsletter, you will receive only the item that you chose to receive. At any point, you can opt-out of any services that you have subscribed to, and BNI will honor your request.
We may use non-personal information for research purposes, and we may provide this information in the aggregate to third parties. For example, we might inform third parties regarding the number of users of our Site and the activities they conduct while on our Site.
We may contract with other companies and individuals to help us provide services. For example, we may host some of our Site on another company’s computer, or we may hire a company to answer customer questions, send information about our programs, products and other services. In order to perform their jobs, these other companies may have limited access to some of the information we maintain about you. We require all such companies to comply with the terms of our Privacy Policy, to limit their access to any personal information to the minimum necessary to perform their obligations, and not to use the information they may access for purposes other than fulfilling their responsibilities to us.
If we transfer a business unit (such as a subsidiary) or an asset (such as a web site) to another company, we will require them to honor the applicable terms of this Privacy Policy. In the event that BNI or substantially all of its assets are acquired by a third party, personally identifiable information will be among the transferred assets.
We may release personal information to third parties: (1) to comply with valid legal requirements such as a law, regulation, search warrant, subpoena or court order; or (2) in special cases, such as in response to a physical threat to you or others, to protect property or defend or assert legal rights. In the event that we are legally compelled to disclose your personal information to a third party, we will attempt to notify you unless doing so would violate the law or court order. When we share information with third parties, we ask that they agree in writing to abide by our Privacy Policy.
Other than the cases described above, we will not release personal information about you to a third party without your consent.
Security of Your Personal Information
We have implemented technology and security policies, rules and other measures to protect the personal data that we have under our control from unauthorized access, improper use, alteration, unlawful or accidental destruction, and accidental loss. We also protect your information by requiring that all our employees and others who have access to or are associated with the processing of your data respect your confidentiality.
Although BNI makes every reasonable attempt to secure your information, there is always some risk in transmitting information over the Internet. There is always a risk that criminals could find some way to penetrate our security systems. We take appropriate measures to protect your information, but we cannot guarantee that the personal information that we collect will never be disclosed in a manner that is inconsistent with this Privacy Policy.
