Email Referral Introductions: Better Than a Business Card


I'm writing today to share a powerful strategy that has helped me take my business to the next level. More importantly, to take my fellow Chapter members to the next level. As a 21 year veteran of the mortgage banking profession, I am seen as the "Mayor" of my clients and database. Positioned as a trusted advisor, I introduce my Chapter members when appropriate. My clients need only reach out to me for my "electrical dept.," my "plumbing dept.," my "insurance dept."  This is a powerful position to hold and my credibility is enhanced with my clients daily when my BNI mates hit home runs for my clients.

In lieu of a business card, I introduce my clients to my Chapter members via email. I write the email to my clients and CC the member. I strongly and warmly endorse my business partner and then attach their email signature to the body of the email. In the second paragraph, I introduce the borrower to my partner. This allows my business partners to warmly respond and cross endorse me. They then offer their support to my client who needs their services. (I have 15 of these templated so that they are ready to send when the needs present themselves.)

Through this systematic process, from Sept of 2010 - 2011 I passed 186 referrals, brought in 19 visitors, did 125 One-to-Ones, and passed $123,861 in closed business.

Results that speak for themselves. I think that more BNI members should consider adopting this practice. Here's to our collective success!!!
